Kim Teems was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where she attended art school and began her design career. In 1988, she moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, and continued her education in print design, as well as web design. In 2001 she co-founded a local motorcycle events magazine, where she was responsible for the design, layout, photography, and web design, as well as event coverage. In 2004 she moved on to continue her freelance career in print design and web design. She remains active in the motorcycle community and finds great pleasure volunteering with FACES The National Craniofacial Association and their annual Ride 4 Smiles motorcycle run.

Kim is happily married and has four kids, two dogs, and four cats.
